WHAT WE WANT: The Team Lead shares project responsibility with the Project Manager, Solutions Architect and Software Development Manager. He/she is responsible for others’ technical work without directly being responsible for individuals, as a manager. The Team Lead is essentially a leader but not a manager. The objective of the role is to combine technical skills and knowledge with leadership skills and experience in such a way as to extract the best results possible from the team at any given time. This is accomplished with approval from management and the business whom the Team Lead must incorporate in discussions in order to establish their support and commitment after approval.
